Volunteer Hours (DIBS)

Our association thrives thanks to the incredible support of our families! Every hour volunteered helps create a better experience for our players and ensures our programs and home rink run smoothly.

Total Hours: Each NPHA family (including first-year families) is asked to complete 22 volunteer hours per season.

Concession Focus: Because the concession stand is the heart of the rink experience, at least 11 of those hours must be completed in the stand.

Deadline: Please aim to have all hours completed by April 15th. We encourage you to jump in early to find the shifts that best fit your schedule!

We love seeing our families get involved, and we make it easy to find a spot that fits your busy schedule! We post volunteer opportunities in small, manageable chunks of time throughout the season, so be sure to check back frequently to find the perfect chance to jump in and help out.

Help With Your Shifts We know life gets busy! If you’re in a pinch, we maintain a list of approved Student Workers available to cover your concession shifts at a rate of $15/hour.

• This is a great way to support local students while ensuring the stand stays open for our fans.
• Note: Families are responsible for making their own scheduling and payment arrangements directly with the student worker.

Tournament Season Support When NPHA hosts District 6 or Regional tournaments, it’s a win for our entire community. We love seeing our families come together for these events! You can help with registration, decorating, the scoreboard, or locker room supervision.

• Exciting Update: All hours worked during these hosted tournaments now count toward your required 22 volunteer hours!

To help our Volunteer Coordinator keep everything accurate, please remember:

• Sign In: Always sign the sign-in sheet when you arrive. This is our primary way of confirming your hard work.
• Dibs Updates: Please do not mark your task as "completed" in Dibs. Once the sign-in sheet is confirmed, our coordinator will update the system for you.
• Shift Commitment: We rely on you to keep events running. If a shift is missed without a replacement, the time will be billed at $35/hour.

If you know your season will be too busy to volunteer, you can choose to "buy out" your hours at our standard rate of $25/hour. To ensure all association needs are met, any hours left unfulfilled after the April 15th deadline will be billed at $50/hour.

The concession stand is more than just a place for snacks; its success directly benefits every member of our association by helping keep our programs affordable. Your help in making it run smoothly is truly appreciated!

Getting Started

• Concession Training: We host a training session (date TBD) to help everyone feel confident behind the counter. This is mandatory for our new families, and you’ll receive one volunteer hour per family for attending!
• Success in the Details: To help our stand stay profitable, please keep an eye on the evening game schedules shown on the TV monitors. This helps us prepare the right amount of food and minimize waste.
• Closing Up: A clean and organized stand is a gift to the next volunteer! Please follow the posted closing and cleaning instructions carefully at the end of your shift to ensure your volunteer hours are fully credited.

Teen Worker Program If you need to hire help for a shift, our Teen Worker List is a great resource.

• Approved Workers: To ensure they are ready to help, all teens on our approved list must attend the annual concession training. We update this list every season, so please be sure to use the current year's directory.
• Family Responsibility: While we provide the list of trained teens as a courtesy, all scheduling and payment arrangements are handled directly between the family and the teen worker.
